Susan Pinsky and David Starkman are stars in the 3-D community. They ran the “Reel 3-D News,” a sort of 3-D photography fanzine in the late 1970s, and established their mail-order “Reel 3-D Enterprises,” a leading supplier for active Stereo Realist-format photographers for decades. Sometime in the 1980s, they began working on a book on the Realist, and more recently scanned hundreds of original advertisements from 1950s magazines. The book hasn’t happened (yet) but they’ve now generously made the whole collection available on this public flickr album. It also includes a treasure trove of other amazing finds including Seton Rochwite’s original drawings for the camera and viewer, complete scans of the Stereo Realist’s official company newsletter, behind-the-scenes photos from the Realist factory, and more.
